Members of the Word makes Bible Studies for Women, one of the apps in this guide. We checked every other app's price and features on its App Store listing, Google Play listing or official site on September 29, 2026. Prices are in US dollars and can vary by country.
"Christian apps" covers a lot of ground: Bibles, study tools, prayer apps, devotionals, Christian radio and video libraries. Most lists pick a few favorites and stop there.
People also ask a question none of those lists answers: which of these apps is safe? Some ask for an account, some link what you write to your identity, some share data used to track you across other apps, and a growing number add AI features.
So this guide is sorted by category and says, for every app, what its App Store privacy label and privacy policy say about accounts, data and AI. We checked each one on September 29, 2026, and wrote "Not stated" wherever the source is silent.

1. Bible Studies for Women
Best for private Bible study, journaling and prayer in one app
Bible Studies for Women puts a guided study, the full Bible, a private journal and prayer in one app, so a daily time with God does not need four separate apps.
Each study session moves through six stages: read the passage, look closely at one detail, The Breakdown explains it in plain words with context and translation notes, The Spark asks a reflection question, then you pray it through and choose one thing to walk out.
It answers the safety question plainly: there is no account, no server holding your writing, no ads, no third-party analytics and no AI reading your entries.
Studies run at about 5, 10 or 20 minutes as three routes through the same study, on the days you choose, and a missed session simply stays next.
- Best for
- private Bible study, journaling and prayer in one app
- Price
- $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year. No free trial
- Platforms
- iPhone and Android
What stands out

- A journal stored on your phone only, exportable as a plain text file any time
- A verse of the day with context, a reflection and a prayer on the Today screen
Worth knowing
- It is a paid app: $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year, with no free trial, and a subscription is needed after onboarding.
- There is no audio, no groups or community, no AI chat and no widgets. For those, YouVersion, Hallow or Glorify will suit you better.
- Cloud backup is off, so deleting the app deletes your writing unless you have exported it or your phone's own device backup covers it.
- We make this app, so weigh our ranking with that in mind.

Make room for the Word.

Which Christian apps are safe?
No store badge says an app is safe, but five checks tell you most of what you need. Each takes a minute on the App Store or Google Play page before you download.
- Read the App Privacy label. On the App Store, "Data Used to Track You" means data may be shared to follow you across other companies' apps. Hallow, Glorify, Abide, Dwell and Pray.com list it; YouVersion, Blue Letter Bible, Lectio 365 and Our Daily Bread do not.
- Ask where your writing goes. Journal entries and prayers kept in an account live on the developer's servers. Bible Studies for Women keeps them on your phone, and Lectio 365 asks for no personal information.
- Look for AI. Logos, Hallow and Glorify describe AI features in their listings or policies. If an app reads or summarizes your journal, the policy should say so and ask first.
- Check for ads. Google Play shows "Contains ads" on the listing: K-LOVE and Logos carry it.
- Check the billing period. Several apps list many prices for one plan, so read the full yearly cost and whether there is a free trial before you subscribe.
Christian apps by category
If you only want one app from each shelf, this is where each pick sits, plus four popular apps we left off the main list.
- Bible: YouVersion for a free Bible in thousands of versions, Blue Letter Bible for word study, and Dwell if you want a narrated audio Bible ($9.99 a month or $59.99 a year on its site, after a 7-day trial).
- Study: Bible Studies for Women for guided studies, Logos for a research library, BibleProject for video overviews.
- Prayer: Hallow, Lectio 365, and Echo Prayer for a free prayer list with reminders (its label links contact info and your content to you). Pray.com has a large audio library, but its label lists purchases, location, contact info and content as data used to track you.
- Devotional: Our Daily Bread and Glorify, or Abide for Scripture meditation you listen to ($39.99 a year on its site).
- Music and video: K-LOVE for radio, RightNow Media through your church.

How we chose
We started from the apps that rank for "christian apps" today and the apps Google's AI Overview names, then chose one or two strong picks for each category: Bible, study, prayer, devotional, music and video.
On September 29, 2026 we checked each app's App Store and Google Play listings, its App Privacy label and, where it links one, its privacy policy. Privacy labels are the developer's own answers and are not verified by Apple, so we report them as stated and write "Not stated" where the sources are silent.
We make Bible Studies for Women and placed it first for one reason: it is the only app here that combines guided study, a journal and prayer with no account and writing kept on the phone. For audio, community, free Bibles and research tools, other apps on this list do more.
