Search for a women's Bible app and most of the results are store listings for apps called some version of "Bible for Women". They look alike, and their pages often do not say which translation you get, whether there are ads, or what the subscription is for.
The Bible text in every one of them is the same Scripture you would read anywhere. What makes an app "for women" is what sits around it: chosen verses, devotionals, prayers and, in a few, studies.
So we opened every listing on September 29, 2026 and compared what matters: translation, ads, price, and whether the app helps you understand what you read.

What makes a Bible app "for women"?
The Scripture is the same translation you would read in any Bible app. A women's Bible app changes what surrounds it: verses chosen for women, devotionals, prayers and, in some apps, studies.
Reading the Bible and studying it are different jobs, and our guide to the best Bible study apps for women covers studying. Before you download a Bible app, check four things.
- Translation. Several women-branded apps name only the KJV, or no translation at all. YouVersion offers 3,500+ versions, and Bible Studies for Women uses the Berean Standard Bible.
- Ads. Every women-branded app in this guide carries the App Store "Contains Advertising" label. YouVersion, She Reads Truth and Bible Studies for Women do not.
- Price. Many listings show several prices for the same upgrade, so check the price you are shown before you subscribe.
- Explanation. Daily verses and devotionals encourage, but they do not tell you what a passage means in context. If you want that, choose an app with studies that explain the text.
Is there a women's Bible app with no ads?
Yes. YouVersion is free with no ads, and She Reads Truth shows no advertising label. Bible Studies for Women has no ads and no third-party analytics, but it is paid.
The women-branded apps are free because of ads. Each sells a subscription or purchase to remove them, except Bible for Women & Daily Study, which lists none.

How we chose
We started from the apps that appear when you search for a women's Bible app, including the store listings that fill most of the results, then opened each one on the App Store, Google Play and its own site on September 29, 2026.
We compared translation, price, ads (using the App Store's own "Contains Advertising" label), platforms, and whether each app helps you understand what you read.
We make Bible Studies for Women. We placed ours first because it is the one app here that explains what you read and keeps your writing on your phone. YouVersion is second and is the better choice if you want a free Bible with far more translations.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a female version of the Bible?
